Before entering the main gate itself they would pounce on you and always say the line for darshan is huge, so take my services and I will take you through a short cut. Be very carefull of the GUIDE/PANDA/PRIESTS. The darshan starts as early as 3-4 AM in the morning. Mobile phone, slippers and bags are not allowed at all. If you go right from the main gate that is called Gate 2 or if you go straight from the Main gate that is Gate No 1. Once you enter the main gate there are two bifurcation. This temple is always packed with devotees in the congested narrow lane. Once out after the darshan, you can feast on 'malaiyo' - a thick curd, available in the gullies connecting the temple to the street. It was good to be able to visit the temple but it would have been better if there was more discipline inside. It's OK to say no or give only what you want to give. So, they'll make you complete a worship & ask you to donate large sums of money. Beware: these priests have tie ups with the priests inside. Once inside, he took us to the various parts of the temple, made us worship & told us the significance of the temple. He, indeed, took us through some other gate where the line was shorter. Our 'priest' made us buy a few offerings, got a locker for us to deposit our stuff & to remove our shoes. Better to decide the amount with them beforehand. You can opt for them if you want to cut the queue & don't mind parting with some money. Many 'priests' will approach you for a hassle-free 'darshan'. It's located in a narrow gully with a heavy police presence.

It's one of the most important temples for Hindus. It's a lifelong dream of many to visit the Kashi Vishwanath Mandir in their lifetime.
